Ethics and Diversity Statement
Ethics Statement

My community has shaped the ethical values I stand by today. Growing up, I learned that you should practice thankfulness, be responsible for your actions and approach every opportunity as a learning opportunity. Traditional teachings set the foundation for many values, but new experiences outside of my community have significantly shifted my understanding of the world. This code represents the convergence of traditional and modern education into public relations practice and beyond.
1. Always keep a good mind. This value derives from a common saying in the Onondaga language. Whatever adversity one may face, it is important to keep a clear and positive thought process moving forward in life.
2. Know your actions impact others. Reaction without a holistic understanding that considers consequences could end up harming someone or something. Making decisions with positive intent can lead to a more progressive outcome.
3. Stay true to yourself. This statement may sound cliché, but it has helped in difficult situations where social expectations challenge values. Being yourself creates more authentic connections professionally and personally - including the workplace, friends, family, and new people.
4. Honesty and hard work pay off. Playing sports throughout high school has influenced this value. Putting in the work equates to results, regardless of the goal you want to achieve. Embracing this work ethic while enacting a sincere attitude leads to straightforward and genuine decision-making processes.

Diversity Statement

The inclusion of all people, regardless of race, class, gender, or any background that might differ from the norm, needs to be at the center of each PR practitioner’s core values in any company or organization. Building trust begins with a deep understanding that everyone has a different story, and each story is equally as important as the next. Implementing an outlook that focuses on integration instead of exclusion becomes vital in ensuring a more progressive future where multiple perspectives are valued and empowered.
